The concurrent session proposals for the 2019 TASA/TASB Convention are in, and now it’s time to vote on the sessions you want to see at txEDCON19! Until March 31, board members, administrators, and other attendees may vote on the proposals they want to see become sessions at TASA/TASB. Vote here.

Backlash builds against UTEP president nominee Heather Wilson
Earlier this month, Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson was chosen as the next president of the University of Texas at El Paso, with President Donald Trump’s Twitter blessings and praise. But over the past few weeks, she’s faced backlash from students, professors and local activists over her anti-LGBTQ record and concerns about her ability to support the school’s diverse population.

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) has been recognized once again for the quality of its degree programs. Several UTSA graduate programs have been ranked in U.S. News & World Report’s annual  2020 U.S. News Best Graduate Schools Rankings , demonstrating the university’s growth and momentum as a destination for student success and research excellence.

TALAS Summer Conference in Austin, Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23.
Plans are developing for the TALAS Summer Conference. On Saturday there will be a chance for members of affiliate groups to meet and plan their upcoming activities. A dinner will be held that evening for everyone to relax, connect and meet new colleagues. Sunday will launch with a breakfast and Superintendents’ Panel, followed by affiliate groups sharing out and planning statewide activities. TALAS President Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora will host the President’s Luncheon: Celebration of Success. Additional information will be shared in the weeks ahead. Make sure to save the date and plan to attend!
